3D Printing Procedures

These procedures establish guidelines for use of Twinsburg Public Library’s 3D printing service. By using this service the patron agrees to the following procedures.

How do I submit a request?

Patrons who wish to request a 3D model can submit an .stl file to librarian@twinsburglibrary.org. Please include your library card number when making a request.

Patrons are limited to printing one 3D print request at a time and must pick up their previous print before submitting a new request. If a 3D model consists of multiple separate parts, each part will constitute a single item. The Library may refuse to print 3D models that contain errors or are beyond the capabilities of the Library’s equipment.

How long will my request take?

The Twinsburg Public Library cannot guarantee completion times. Library staff will contact patrons when printing is complete. Unclaimed prints are disposed of after two weeks and the cost of the print is charged to the patron's library card.

How much does it cost to print?

The cost of printing is $0.05 per gram of plastic used. Library staff may estimate the price before printing, but the exact price may only be given once printing has been completed. Library staff may make slight alterations to models such as adding supports to make them printable. Patrons are responsible for any extra cost associated with alterations to their designs. All 3D models must be paid in full before being released to patrons.

What equipment is used?

The Library uses a Creality Ender 3 V2 3D Printer, the maximum dimensions of models this 3D printer can produce are 220x220x250mm. All 3D Models printed by the library use gray PLA filament, patrons may not supply their own filament for 3D prints.

What if my print is unsuccessful?

Twinsburg Public Library does not guarantee that any 3D model will print successfully. If a print fails due to staff error or hardware failure the patron will not be charged. However, patrons may be charged if the print fails due to an error within the 3D model. The Library may refuse to reprint the object after two unsuccessful attempts.

Where can I find 3D Models?

Websites like Thingiverse have a variety of ready-to-print 3D models available, or try making your own using a web program like Tinkercad.
